  1. Onshore Spousal\/ Common law Partner Sponsorship\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Spousal Sponsorship\u00a0program is a subclass\u00a0of the Family sponsorship program category, under which a permanent resident of Canada\u00a0may sponsor his or her spouse\/common-law partner for Canadian permanent residence.\u00a0Both the Canadian citizen or permanent resident (also called the \u2018sponsor\u2019) and the foreign national (the \u2018sponsored person\u2019) must be approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC, formerly CIC) in order for the sponsored person to receive a visa.<\/p>\n

    The\u00a0Onshore Spousal\/Common-Law Partner Sponsorship program allows permanent resident of Canada to sponsor his or her spouse\/common-law partner for permanent resident status if\u00a0both of them are already living together in Canada.<\/p>\n

    There are two parts to the spousal sponsorship application:<\/p>\n
